Culture or sports? Trollhättan has it
The choice is yours, and the opportunities are many. You can hike along the waterfall
and locks that date from the last century in the river Göta älv, fish or take a boat trip on
board the Strömkarlen. Check out the giant’s cauldron Kungsgrottan at the falls, where many
of Sweden’s rulers have carved their names. Why not ride across the river on Sweden’s southernmost
cable-way?
Trollhättan has many museums. Here you’ll find the Technology Center
Innovatum – which also has a centre for hands-on experiments – the Kanalmuseum and the Saab Car
Museum. In nearby Hunneberg you’ll find the royal hunting museum Älgens Berg. In Hunneberg you can
even go on a moose safari.
Trollhättan is also Sweden’s Hollywood. Both Swedish and
international films are made here. Nicole Kidman, Stellan Skarsgård and Laureen Bacall are a few
of the well-known actors and actresses who have worked in Trollhättan. Visit some of the
environments made immortal on film.
Trollhättan offers excellent opportunities for
exercise. You can swim, work out or go bowling at Älvhögsborg, drive a go-cart at Performance
gokart center or bike (bike rental at Innovatum). Play golf on any one of the lovely greens in the
area.
Shopping is one of our most popular forms of recreation, and Trollhättan has a
lot to offer both in the centre of town and in the outlying shopping centre Överby.
